Craft Grower

October 15, 2018 | Custom Cannabis

In a current environment of takeovers and corporate chaos, Canada’s major licensed producers are fighting to come out on top when the clock turns midnight on October 16th, 2018. At Custom Cannabis, our focus is elsewhere. While we are advocates for legal cannabis, what we truly care about is ensuring medical patients in need of cannabis will not be left behind by the increased prices, and decreased inventory expected to come with the upcoming change.

Despite what the future has in store for cannabis, we have and always will be around for one reason: to empower our patients through education, kindness, and high-quality, medical-grade cannabis that allows them a custom path to wellness that feels true to them. It’s not about making money, it’s about making a difference.

To ensure success in our journey, we have built a 65,000 sq. ft. facility in Claresholm, Alberta, through which we will maintain our growing and operations. Our facility includes over 10,000 sq. ft. of polycarbonate greenhouses which will hold our mothers’ room, nursery, and eight individual vegetation and flowering rooms.

The cultivation of craft cannabis is an artform. A series of calculated steps intended not just to grow cannabis, but to develop the plant to its full potential in order to supply patients the highest quality product. No matter the phase – growing, harvesting, dry-cure, or packaging – it requires the highest levels of care, skill, and undivided attention to produce true craft cannabis. Our unique greenhouse facility will allow us to follow these processes in the best way we can.

Being located in the Southern Alberta, our plants will have unprecedented access to 280 days of natural sunlight every year. We have strategically painted our facility roof white to draw more light in and reflect it up towards our greenhouse walls, where the light is then grabbed by the polycarbonate and driven down towards our crops. This means our plants live a far more natural life then those raised under the artificial lights and low ceilings of so many other growing facilities we’ve seen.

Each room in the greenhouse will be designated for a different strain to develop through its vegetation and flowering phases. This will ensure ultimate levels of cleanliness and climate control. Our plants will be carefully and professionally pruned to promote clean airflow through the plant canopy and to prevent a dense and damp environment where pathogens could thrive. To further eliminate these potential pathogens, we use an all organic pesticide which is applied prior to the plant flowering to avoid any pesticides on our final product.
